Churches I. This tour has a general discussion of the influence of the Friars Minor and the Order of La Merced on the city. The Tour begins with a visit to the Iglesia de San Francisco and then proceeds to the Iglesia de La Virgin de Guadalupe and ends at the Cathedral of Granada. The history and architecture of each site is explained in detail. If you wish to include a tour of the Convento de San Francisco add 30 minutes and $5.00 per person to cover the admission to the Museuo.
Churches II. This tour begins with a general discussion of the establishment of Christianity in the Spanish New World. The Franciscans and the order of La Merced are explained along with their influence on Granada. The churches of La Merced, Xalteva, and Don Bosco are visited with particular attention to the styles and time periods of the architecture of each. Time will be allowed to climb the tower at La Merced if you wish (separate admission of C$ 50). The statue of Sr. Maria Romero will be visited along the way and her beatification by Pope St. John Paul II discussed.
Neoclassical Architectural Tour. This tour is in the planning stages but will examine architecture between c.1800 and c.1890 in Granada.
Electico Architectural Tour. This tour examines the development of the Mexican/Italian/USA influence
on the architecture of Granada. It includes the years from roughly 1890 to 1950.
